Keystone – Events, Outdoor Activities, and Things To Do

Keystone

“Keystone is centered around River Run Village, which is located at the base of the hillsides. The village is located at 9,280 feet above sea level, with the mountain peak rising to 12,408 feet. It’s less than an hour and a half from Denver, in lively Summit County.”

The valley has a strong mining and logging background, and many of the lifts and trails are named after historical personalities. Max Dercum founded Keystone as a ski resort town in 1970. The resort is now owned by Vail.

Keystone is much more urbane than other mountain areas in that it offers an elite, high-end collection of spas, athletic clubs, and restaurants that appeal to visitors looking to be amazed. So, if you’re looking for a more family-friendly trip, Keystone has lots of pleasant and reasonable accommodation options. And if skiing or golf aren’t your things, Keystone has plenty of other activities to keep you entertained! Year-round, there are a lot of enjoyable events conducted in Keystone, as well as various outdoor activities such as camping, hiking, and rafting.

  • Biking

From Keystone to Breckenridge, there is a paved path around Lake Dillon. Off-road trails can be found all across Keystone and the surrounding valley. Keystone features one of the country’s top downhill mountain biking parks! Most of the nearest big resorts have ski lifts that you may use to travel back down the mountain. Moreover, SummitCove provides a Free BIKE RENTAL with every summer booking!

  • Play In A Massive Snow Fort

Even on mornings when the weather is beautiful at the base, the top of the mountain may be quite windy and freezing. Make sure to dress warmly.

The snow fort at the peak of Keystone is a massive playground created entirely of snow. It has slides, tunnels, climbing ropes, and riddles. If you want to take your children on a gondola trip but they are too little to go tubing, a snow fort is a fantastic option.

  • Gondola Rides

You don’t really have to ski or snowboard to explore the mountain, but you only need a lift ticket to enjoy the gondolas.

Gondola rides in Keystone pick you up from Dercum Mountain for some breathtaking views! On Fridays during the summer, enjoy free gondola rides, yard games, beer deals, and live music at 11,000 feet!

  • Snow Biking

You’d be wrong if you thought snow biking is identical to fat tire biking. Snow riding is not the same as biking. It’s more similar to skiing than biking. Snow riding is best described as a bike seat atop a bike-like machine with blades instead of tires. From Keystone to Breckenridge, there is a paved route that surrounds Lake Dillon. There are off-road trails all across Keystone and the surrounding valley.

  • Shopping

If you like to go a little further, there are great shops in the surrounding area. About eight miles from the ski resort, there are outlet malls in Silverthorne, which has a lot of shops. If you’re searching for something other than skiing and cold-weather gear, or if you just want to spend some time power shopping, this is the place to go. You’ll need a car for this one, or you may use a cab or ride-sharing service.
